Sarah’s Story
Working from my home studio in Oxshott, Surrey, I design and handcraft individual hats and headpieces for the races, weddings and special occasions. I trained at Kensington & Chelsea College with Jo Miller, and in 2018 was shortlisted for the Design Award of The Worshipful Company of Feltmakers in London.
I have attended and studied with many well-known milliners who have kindly shared their skills and knowledge, so that I have been able to create my own unique style.
Before retraining as a milliner I had a long and varied career as an Occupational Therapist. I specialised in sculpting splints for hand injuries – with millinery I have moved from the hand to the head! I marry the sculptural techniques developed during my time as an Occupational Therapist, with traditional millinery skills to create exciting headpieces.
I’m also a keen artist – see some of my oil paintings in my Insta highlights. I’m mum to two small boys who keep me busy – and if I get any free time I love to run, read and play golf!
